4D Digital Engineer
4D Digital Engineer – Lower Thames Crossing Project (Essex) – Balfour Beatty
About the Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a 4D Digital Engineer to join their growing team on the Lower Thames Crossing Project in Essex.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 4D simulations integrating 3D models with programme data
- Maintain accurate linkages between modelled components and the programme timeline
- Lead digital rehearsals and capture actionable insights
- Identify sequencing clashes, access constraints, and logistics issues
- Support temporary works, lifting operations, and construction methodology planning
- Produce visual outputs including animations, stills, dashboards, and reports
- Ensure compliance with project standards, metadata requirements, and CDE protocols
- Work closely with planners to validate programme logic using 4D insights
- Maintain templates, libraries, and 4D workflow documentation
- Mentor junior team members

Requirements
- Strong expertise in Synchro/4D software, with proficiency in Navisworks
- Sound understanding of Primavera P6 and programme logic
- Experience with 3D modelling workflows (e.g., Revit, Civil 3D, Bentley)
- Familiarity with ISO 19650 processes
- Hands-on experience supporting planning, engineering, and constructability reviews using 4D model analysis
