8A Mammographer- Trainee Consultant Mammographer

Job Overview University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with them. Below is the detailed job description for the role:


Main Duties of the Job The postholder will collaborate with Breast Consultant Radiologists, Advanced Practitioners, mammographers, and assistant practitioners to deliver a Breast Screening and Symptomatic Service. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist clinical opinions and diagnosis to ensure patient-centred care.
  • Undertaking imaging and reporting for symptomatic and breast screening patients.
  • Performing interventional procedures under ultrasound and stereotactic guidance, with a focus on courtesy, consideration, and professionalism towards patients, visitors, and staff.

This position is for maternity cover.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Qualifications in Mammography is a requirement.
  • Proven NHS track record necessary.
  • HCPC registration mandatory.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold a BSc in Radiography.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Possess evidence of postgraduate study.
  • Complete a PG Certificate in Mammography.
  • Willingness to pursue a Master’s degree in a relevant specialist area upon appointment.
  • Extensive post-degree experience in symptomatic and screening breast diagnostics.
  • Proven leadership skills, including participation in appraisals and assessment of mammographers/assistant practitioners.
  • Commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Developed patient care skills.
  • Familiarity with NHS & Cancer Plans, NHS Standards and Frameworks.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Correctional Studies in Radiographic Oncology (SCOR) Consultant Radiographer Accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and resolving difficult/sensitive interpersonal issues.
