Band 6 | NHS Agenda for Change | £39,959-£48,117 per annum

About the Role

Join South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust as a 999 Telephone Triage Nurse or Paramedic in the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

About the Position

We are seeking experienced and compassionate clinicians to work at the heart of our "virtual care" model. This role involves:

  • Providing remote clinical assessments, referrals, or home management advice using clinical decision support software.
  • Full training and ongoing support available as part of a development pathway for Band 5 Adult Nurses progressing to Band 6, or for established Band 6 paramedics and nurses.

Applied on-call shifts (including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays) are approved through Section 2 (Agenda for Change) payment, which applies to existing staff as well.

  • Clinical Assessment: Online (Wednesday 29th July 2026)
  • Interview: Face-to-face (Wednesday 5th August 2026)

Main Duties

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide remote clinical assessments via IT systems, ensuring referrals/advice are accurate and timely for patients calling the 999 service.
  • Prioritise and manage urgent cases to guarantee patient safety and appropriate resource allocation.
  • Coach and support Emergency Medical Advisors (EMAs) and dispatch teams within the EOC.

Starting Details

  • The starting salary for new NHS recruits is the bottom of their appointed band unless relevant NHS/experience is proven.
  • 24/7 shift patterns mean weekend and night work. Applicants must be within 45–60 minutes' travel of a contact centre.
  • Vaccination status considerations (in line with NHS policy).

Additional Notes

  • DBS check required (level detailed in the condition of offer letter).
  • Convictions declarations may be required pre-interview.
  • Mandatory pauses for envisaged childcare or lactation breaks (available per Trust policies).
