Job Opportunity: Accounts Assistant

Location: Epsom, Surrey

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

TPF Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a growing, independent accountancy practice in Epsom who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly and professional team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their practical experience in accounting and finance within a supportive and structured environment, with exposure to a wide range of clients and the potential for career development within the firm.

The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the finance team with day-to-day accounting and client work. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare bookkeeping records and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Prepare Self Assessment tax returns and support with other personal tax compliance work.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information, answer queries, and provide ongoing support.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using cloud accounting software.
  • Support senior members of the team with ad hoc accounting assignments while ensuring all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification such as AAT Level 4, or be on the ACCA / ACA apprenticeship
  • Previous experience in a UK-based accountancy practice
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and accounting software
  • A proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach to work
  • The ability to work accurately and efficiently to deadlines
  • A friendly, collaborative approach and a willingness to learn
  • Ambition to develop their career within accountancy
