Leadership Opportunity for ABAS Senior Manager
This is a rare leadership opportunity for an ambitious individual who thrives on business development, enjoys building high-performing teams, and wants to play a key role in shaping the future growth of a successful regional practice.
You will be responsible for developing a client portfolio, building strong relationships across the Manchester business community.

A leading UK Accountancy firm with ambitions to break into the Top 10 in the near future. Reporting into the North West leadership team, you will take ownership of launching and developing the Manchester ABAS function, driving business growth while ensuring exceptional client service delivery.
Description
Key Responsibilities ABAS Senior Manager:
Business Development & Growth
- Launch and build the Manchester ABAS offering from the ground up.
- Develop a substantial portfolio of new clients and expand services to existing clients.
- Generate leads through networking, professional contacts and intermediary relationships.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across the region.
- Support and contribute to proposals, tenders and client presentations.
- Enhance the firm's profile through networking events, thought leadership and marketing initiatives.
Client Service & Portfolio Management
- Deliver exceptional client service across accounts, advisory and business support engagements.
- Manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor to business owners and management teams.
- Review financial information, advisory reports, management accounts and related deliverables.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and cross-referrals across the wider firm.
- Ensure client work is completed to agreed deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
- Manage client risks and resolve issues proactively.

Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, develop and lead a growing Manchester-based team.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
- Conduct performance reviews and support career development.
- Create a collaborative, inclusive and high-performance culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and retention initiatives.
- Promote employee engagement, wellbeing and continuous learning.
Technical Excellence & Risk Management
- Maintain high technical standards across accounting, financial reporting and advisory services.
- Ensure compliance with relevant professional and regulatory requirements.
- Support quality assurance and risk management processes.
- Drive consistency, standardisation and best-practice approaches.
- Provide technical support and training to colleagues.
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
- Contribute to the North West Senior Leadership Team.
- Support strategic growth initiatives across the region.
- Champion operational improvements and enhanced client delivery.
- Drive innovation through technology adoption, AI and workflow automation.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and modernisation initiatives.
Profile
Ideal ABAS Senior Manager
You will be an experienced senior manager (or manager) level professional with a proven track record of growing client relationships and developing teams within an accountancy practice environment.

Essential Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience).
- Significant experience within a professional services or accountancy practice environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards and advisory services.
- Demonstrable success in business development and winning new clients.
- Established professional network within the Manchester and wider North West market.
- Strong leadership, mentoring and people management skills.
- Commercially aware with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver results.
- Strong understanding of risk management and compliance requirements.
