Principal – Investments (EMEA) | Alumni Ventures London

Alumni Ventures is one of the world’s most active venture capital platforms, with $1.4B+ in assets raised and 1,600+ company investments. Our global network of 850,000+ members and 40+ investors provides accredited individuals access to otherwise institutional-exclusive venture opportunities. With offices spanning Boston, New York, Chicago, Menlo Park, Manchester, NH, London, and Tokyo, we are rapidly expanding to accelerate entrepreneurial success and groom the next wave of VC professionals.

Having a 5-day-in-office culture, Alumni Ventures values collaboration, mentorship, and shared momentum—essential to driving impact at scale.

About the Role

As a Principal in investments, you will lead sourcing, evaluating, and supporting startup and growth-stage companies, primarily across EMEA (UK, Europe, and MENA), in collaboration with the broader Alumni Ventures platform.

This role, based in London, is transformational for our fast-growth regional office. You will adopt a T-shaped approach:

  • A generalist focusing on diverse sectors and investment stages (Series A–D).
  • With encouragement to specialise in EMEA venture-stage investing.
  • 5–7 portfolio investments per year (~$5–20M annual deployment), plus sourcing-related activities supporting US-based colleagues.

Collaboration & Accountability: This role reports to AV’s 10 US-based investment teams (led by Managing Partners) and aligns closely with our EMEA Executive Managing Director.

Responsibility includes:

  • Driving deal sourcing and high-conversion pipelines.
  • Closing 5–7 deals annually across early-stage to growth (pre-IPO).
  • Networking leadership: Engaging founders, co-investors, and LPs to build strong relationships.
  • Comm vim: Moderate to high travel within EMEA and occasional US trips for investment alignment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
