About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Academic Manager to join our School of Computing and AI Team on a full-time, permanent basis based in our Manchester Campus.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the leadership, management, and development of our team of lecturers.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced educational professional with a genuine passion for quality and excellence, who has a demonstrative ability of managing people, including the recruitment, induction, and day-to-day line management of lecturers.
Key Responsibilities
As an Academic Manager at The University of Law, you will:
- People management, including performance management, PDR’s, absence management, and career development
- Establish effective use and apportionment of staff resource and the optimization of Campus resource allocation in liaison with the Campus Director
- Develop, monitor, and upkeep the quality performance of the academic team, delivering sector-leading quality results
- Motivate and develop the team, which includes raising their external academic and professional profile
- Ensure high levels of learning and teaching quality on Campus and ensuring outstanding student and client experience
- Liaise with Programme and Student Leads to provide academic staff resource to contribute to the development and delivery of courses

Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for individuals who are/have:
- Master’s degree or professional qualification in a subject relevant to Computer Science programmes
- Considerable experience in teaching in Higher Education and working in an educational establishment
- Organised and can prioritise their own workload
- Excellent knowledge of academic theory and/or business practice in relevant discipline
- Confident and articulate presentation skills
- Ability to be flexible and to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment
- Punctual, good time management, and prioritisation of workload
- Flexible in terms of working hours to meet the demands of the contract
- Willing to engage in building awareness of the School of Computing and AI
- Ability to work independently for short periods and as part of a team, whilst recognising when advice/input needs to be sought
