Academic Mentor - What the Role Involves

  • Delivering targeted one-to-one and small-group academic intervention sessions across KS3 and KS4
  • Supporting pupils working below expected levels or preparing for GCSE examinations across a range of subjects
  • Using assessment data to identify gaps in understanding and adapt sessions accordingly
  • Maintaining clear records of pupil progress and feeding back regularly to class teachers
  • Building consistent, motivating relationships with pupils to develop their confidence and resilience as learners

Academic Mentor - What the School is Looking For

The ideal Academic Mentor will hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university. Previous child-centred experience in a UK educational setting is highly valued. The school is seeking a proactive, dependable, and enthusiastic Academic Mentor with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

Academic Mentor - Salary and Contract Info

  • £450 to £530 per week, pro rata to term time only
  • Full-time, long-term contract from September 2026 to July 2027
  • Term-time only
  • Potential for future teacher training or extended contracts following a successful placement
