Academic Mentor Brent September 2026

A high-performing secondary school in Brent is seeking a Russell Group or top 10 university graduate to join as an Academic Mentor. This ambitious school is looking for English, Maths, and Science specialists who can provide class-based support in their degree subject and gain a potential route into teacher training.

Role Overview

  • Academic Mentor role paying £90-110 per day PAYE, full-time and term-time only.
  • Clear potential route into teacher training for graduates who impress during the academic year.
  • Excellent training for graduates aspiring to become teachers in English, Maths, or Science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Mentor opportunity in Brent offering direct classroom experience in a busy, high-performing secondary school.
  • Support pupils in your specialist subject during lessons, working closely with experienced teachers and Heads of Department.
  • Provide targeted academic support to pupils who need help developing confidence, subject knowledge, and examination technique.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Academic Mentor candidates should hold a strong degree from a Russell Group or top 10 university.
  • Ideal for English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, or related degree holders with excellent academic credentials.
  • Academic Mentor applicants must be articulate, organised, proactive, and confident supporting pupils in a classroom setting.
  • Essential requirements: 2:1 degree or above, strong A Levels, excellent GCSEs, and full-time availability for the academic year.
