Academic Notetaker

Specialist Note-taker (Part-Time) – University of Lincoln

Position: Flexible Part-Time • Salary: GBP £12.71 per hour plus holiday pay

About the Role

Do you enjoy attending lectures, gaining knowledge, and supporting others without university fees? Randstad Student and Worker Support is seeking reliable and committed individuals to provide specialist notetaking support to students with disabilities at the University of Lincoln.

As a specialist notetaker, you’ll contribute to an essential academic support service while immersing yourself in higher education lectures—gratis.

Responsibilities

You’ll provide accuracy-focused notetaking while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and institutional compliance. Core tasks include:

  • Producing clear, legible notes for:
    • Lectures
    • Seminars/tutorials
    • Group tasks
  • Reviewing notes immediately following sessions to ensure effective accessibility for the student
  • Upholding a professional demeanour at all times—ensuring discretion and respect for students’ needs
  • Supporting student well-being while adhering to the University’s policies and procedures

You’ll collaborate closely with Randstad to:

  • Address individual student needs promptly
  • Maintain confidentiality in all communications
  • Escalate concerns timeously for conducive support

Requirements

A successful candidate must possess:

  • Excellent typing skills (fast, precise, and adaptable to academic contexts)
  • Strong spelling and grammar competency
  • Unwavering punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines (lectures often run under time pressure)
  • Strong organisational skills and time management (balancing note-taking, editing, and deadlines)
