The Role

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Academy Goalkeeper Coach to join our Academy and Emerging Talent teams.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality goalkeeper coaching that reflects Manchester United's Academy philosophy and playing style, supporting the development of young goalkeepers across the Academy pathway. Working closely with players, coaches and wider support staff, you will help develop goalkeepers technically, tactically, physically and psychologically, while contributing to talent identification and long-term player progression.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Planning and delivering high-quality goalkeeper coaching sessions in line with Manchester United's Academy philosophy and playing style.
  • Supporting the technical, tactical, physical and psychological development of goalkeepers within the Academy programme.
  • Assisting with the identification, assessment and recruitment of talented young goalkeepers.
  • Providing constructive feedback to players, parents and Academy staff to support individual development.
  • Ensuring coaching sessions are age-appropriate and aligned with the club's long-term player development plan.
  • Supporting matchday preparations and providing in-game coaching where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of player performance and development.
  • Adhering to all safeguarding, health and safety, and club policies and procedures.

The Person:

We're looking for an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about developing young goalkeepers and creating engaging learning environments that help players reach their potential.

You Will Have

  • UEFA B Goalkeeping Coaching Licence (or be working towards it).
  • FA Level 2 (UEFA C) in Coaching Football or higher.
  • Experience coaching goalkeepers within an elite youth football environment.
  • A strong understanding of goalkeeper development across different age groups.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging and enjoyable coaching sessions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Up-to-date FA safeguarding and first aid qualifications.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

You'll also bring:

  • A passion for youth player development and continuous learning.
  • A professional, collaborative and reliable approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with players, parents and colleagues.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest coaching and safeguarding standards.

Desirable Experience Includes

  • Previous experience working within an Academy or professional football club.
  • Knowledge of Manchester United's Academy philosophy, playing style and player development pathway.
