Academy Education – Post-16 Teaching Role (Fixed-Term, Maternity Cover)
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis (8 months, beginning November 2026) covering maternity leave.
About the Role
This Post-16 Teacher will lead the delivery of our BTEC Level 3 in Sporting Performance and Excellence alongside the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) qualification, and play a key role in supporting the holistic, off-pitch development of our players.
The role requires effective teaching, pastoral support, and strategic contributions to maintaining the Academy’s Category 1 status. You will drive educational excellence, collaborate with external stakeholders, and support the holistic growth of young athletes through mentorship and progress tracking.
Key Responsibilities
The Post-16 Teacher will:
- Deliver the BTEC Level 3 in Sporting Performance and Excellence and SEP qualification, ensuring learners achieve target grades.
- Lead on high-quality teaching and learning, fostering an outstanding academic and pastoral environment.
- Provide mentorship and pastoral support to enhance player development.
- Coordinate and conduct regular academic and pastoral progress reviews across all phases.
- Support the Youth Development Phase Compensatory Education Programme and destination tracking post-scholarship.
- Collaborate with partner schools, ensuring strong oversight of player education.
- Foster compliance with EPPP, Premier League standards, and external quality assurance frameworks.
- Represent the department in meetings and education-related initiatives.

Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate must possess: ✔ A degree-level qualification. ✔ PGCE with QTS or equivalent recognised status. ✔ Proven experience delivering BTEC at KS5, alongside KS3 & KS4 curriculum. ✔ Strong commitment to planning and delivering engaging lessons that drive outstanding progress for all learners. ✔ Working knowledge of BTEC specifications and progression pathways. ✔ Holistic support experience with young people, especially in performance or sports environments. ✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including engagement with players, parents, and colleagues.

Desirable Requirements
Ideally, the candidate will also have: 🔹 Experience in elite sporting or performance environments (e.g., football academies). 🔹 Knowledge of Academy football structures and the EPPP model. 🔹 Experience delivering A-Levels or SEP apprenticeships. 🔹 PE or sports curriculum teaching experience. 🔹 Programme coordination or leadership in education settings. 🔹 Experience working with external partners, including schools and awarding bodies.
