About the Facilities Team
Our dedicated Facilities Team works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every corner of our facilities is in top-notch condition—ready to host thrilling matches and memorable events. From managing the upkeep of our stadium and training grounds to overseeing logistics for game days, we are committed to excellence in every detail.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated, hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Operative to join the Facilities Team at our training academy.
This role is ideal for someone with:
- A positive attitude
- A strong work ethic
- Previous facilities or maintenance experience
We are eager to find the right candidate with the right mindset—someone who is happy to get stuck in and support wider organisational operations.

Key Responsibilities
You will play a central role in the day-to-day operation of the academy, ensuring high standards across the site through:
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Contractor management
- Compliance activities
- Cleaning duties
- General operational support
Development Opportunities
You will receive on-site training in:
- Site-specific systems
- Compliance procedures
- Pool plant operations Additionally, there will be opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Desirable Qualities
Experience in:
- Commercial, education, leisure, or sporting settings
- Basic knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Conducting compliance checks
Advantageous certifications (or willingness to obtain them):
- Pool Plant Operator
- First Aid certification
- IOSH Working Safely training

Additional Requirement
An Enhanced DBS check (previously carried out by Sunderland AFC) is required.
