The post holder will be responsible for successful execution of the Accelerated Knowledge Transfer project as defined in the associated Project Plan.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of a digital library of CAD files covering David Murphy Towing Brackets Ltd’s product range of trailers, roof racks, chassis extensions and cycle carriers, converting paper-based drawings using Autodesk Fusion CAD software. DfM methodologies will be applied throughout to identify improvements in component fit and simplify both manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Identification of opportunities to expand product range, in consultation with the Business Partner Supervisor, and completion of initial CAD design concepts and models to support this.
- Prototyping of revised or newly created components to validate accuracy, assess improvements and refine designs.
- Undertake research into WVTA and ROI ABB requirements to assess the state of the regulatory environment within which the business operates and to ascertain if alterations to designs shall be necessitated in order to achieve such approval.
- Review CAD designs against regulatory requirements and implement any necessary modifications to ensure alignment with approval standards.
- Analyse current manufacturing workflow and the costs, lead times and constraints associated with outsourcing laser cutting operations to third party suppliers.
- Develop a cost–benefit analysis comparing outsourced versus inhouse CNC laser cutting, including capital expenditure, operating costs, staffing, training, throughput, and delivery performance impacts.
- Produce a feasibility report outlining the commercial viability, operational benefits, and strategic value of potential inhouse CNC laser cutting capability.
- Ensure that all work and output is of the highest quality following all standards as agreed with the Senior Training & Innovation Consultant – Engineering and the Business Partner Supervisor.

Full-time, fixed term post for 6 months
Salary: Band 4, £26,824 - £31,537 per annum, pro rata
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8.45am - 5pm & Friday 8.45am - 3.30pm
Location: David Murphy Towing Brackets Ltd, Carryduff
