Access Officer

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Role Type: Full-time/Permanent Role ID: SF74699

Be The Gateway to One of the United Kingdom’s Most Important Defence Sites

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. As an Access Officer at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site, you'll be the first point of contact for employees, visitors, and contractors while maintaining secure access and delivering exceptional service.

About the Role

You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining secure access to a nationally important site by providing a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused gateway service. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your career in a defence environment, gaining hands-on experience in security, access management, and customer service within one of the UK’s largest naval bases.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Providing a professional, welcoming, customer-focused gateway service for Devonport Dockyard.
  • Processing access applications, passes, permits, and renewals in line with Ministry of Defence contractual requirements.
  • Managing site access requests for personnel, vehicles, contractors, and VIP visitors.
  • Reviewing administrative processes to identify efficiency improvements and enhance service delivery.
  • Supporting team performance by promoting a positive culture and helping achieve contractual service targets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
