Accommodation Officer – Dawn Centre (Permanent Full-Time Role)
Reference: REQ7785 Location: Dawn Centre, Leicester Region: Central Contract: Full-time (37 hours/week) Salary: £28,598 – £31,022 per year (plus total benefits package valued at £42,300, including pension and holiday entitlement)
About the Role
Do you enjoy supporting people and thriving in a fast-paced, rewarding environment? We’re seeking Accommodation Officers to join our Dawn Centre team, providing vital emergency accommodation to vulnerable single homeless individuals and childless couples as part of Leicester City Council’s Homelessness Strategy.
You’ll be part of a dedicated 19-person team, operating 365 days a year, 24 hours a day to give people a safe, structured place to stay. Working on a 12-hour shift pattern, this role offers flexibility—fewer weekly shifts with longer breaks in between—while delivering a critical frontline service.

Key Responsibilities
Your role will include essential operational, administrative, and frontline duties,要求平衡以下核心工作:

Admission & Induction of Service Users
- Conduct interviews, assessments, and inductions for new arrivals, ensuring compliance with Leicester City Council’s Homelessness Strategy.

Environmental & Property Management
- Oversee maintenance, security, and infrastructure of the Dawn Centre.
- Carry out domestic duties as needed—cleaning, maintenance, and residence monitoring.

Welfare & Support Coordination
- Perform regular welfare checks to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
- Respond to challenging incidents, de-escalate conflict, and uphold Dawn Centre protocols with respect and professionalism.

Confidential Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office and internal databases.
Who You Are
You’re the ideal candidate if:
- You love working with people in high-pressure, crisis-driven situations and are driven to help others.
- You possess empathy, resilience, and strong communication skills—capable of building rapport with a diverse group during periods of uncertainty.
- You’ve worked in customer service, healthcare, housing, social care, security, or emergency support roles (experience isn’t mandatory, but transferable strengths are valued).
- You feel confident managing challenging behaviour, resolving conflict, and making sound decisions under pressure.
- You thrive as part of a team, while demonstrating strong organisational skills to balance multiple priorities.
We particularly welcome candidates with lived experience of homelessness or advocacy in this sector.
Requirements & Commitments
- Pre-Employment Checks: Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references (due to work with vulnerable adults).
- Availability: Must be able to work rotating days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
