Join us as Accommodation Support Worker (Relief Staff/Zero Hours) at Thirteen Group!
Role Overview
Thirteen Group are on the lookout for Accommodation Support Workers to join our relief pool on a Zero Hour contract.
Offering you flexibility in your shift pattern, our relief staff roles enable you to pick up shifts that fit around your current working schedule and personal commitments. We aim to plan ahead for our shifts across Monday to Friday i.e. to cover annual leave, however, at times the notice for the shifts can be short notice to cover urgent requirements.
You can choose your own shifts and locality; you’ll work in the community and within custodial settings across Tees Valley, Durham and Northumberland.
These roles join 'Resettle North East' which is a service led by Thirteen and funded by Ministry of Justice. The scheme supports sentenced and unsentenced males in custody or in the community to find and keep stable accommodation.
National Security Vetting and Prison Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Working in our Ministry of Justice accommodation support service team, you’ll ensure ex-offenders secure and maintain suitable and settled accommodation in the North East, enabling them to build on their life skills.
- Give people clear advice, support and guidance to help them find and keep a home. You’ll develop support plans and risk assessments to track progress and positive outcomes.
- Assess what each person needs, spot any risks early and connect them with the right specialist help.
- Keep accurate digital records and hit the performance targets we’ve agreed with the Ministry of Justice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
