Part-Time Accounts Assistant

Location: East Sussex

Salary: Up to £25,000 pro rata

Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract

Hours: 3–4 days per week

Working pattern: Office-based initially, with hybrid working available once settled


We are currently supporting a leading organisation in East Sussex with the recruitment of a part-time Accounts Assistant.

Working closely with the wider finance and administration team, you will process financial transactions, maintain accurate customer accounts, and respond to account-related queries.

Key responsibilities

  • Processing payments, Direct Debits, and other financial transactions
  • Raising invoices, credit notes, and additional charges
  • Allocating receipts and updating financial records
  • Posting daily bank transactions to the appropriate ledgers
  • Supporting the preparation and distribution of statements and bills
  • Maintaining accurate customer account details
  • Responding to queries by telephone and email
  • Maintaining spreadsheets, logs, and finance documentation
  • Supporting debt letters and late-payment charges
  • Providing general administrative support to the finance team
  • Assisting with ad-hoc finance tasks when required

  • Previous experience within finance or office administration would be beneficial
  • A good understanding of basic financial processes
  • Confident using IT systems, including Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Organised and able to prioritise your workload
  • Confident communicating by telephone and email
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach
