Account Development Manager, Brighton

Account Development Manager (Brighton)

Key Purpose Statement

To develop and maintain relationships with key customers within a defined territory, creating joint business plans with outlets to ensure retention and organic growth. Identify new business opportunities through territory expertise and grow distribution via strategic partnerships aligned with the Company’s objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Customer Account Management

    • Oversee key customer accounts to meet KPIs, driving retention and growth through regular visits and the development of joint business plans.
    • Manage viability programs to increase sales.
  • Territory & Strategic Planning

    • Create a territory file defining regional quarterly and annual plans.
    • Maintain CRM accuracy by updating customer data and producing regular reports for Regional Sales Manager and Field Sales Director.
  • Business Development & Networking

    • Identify new business opportunities using industry knowledge and networking to deliver new draught installations.
    • Work with Regional Account Managers to extend brand reach.
  • Channel & Retailer Strategy

    • Develop customer activity plans aligned with Route to Market (RTM) partners in collaboration with the National Account team.
    • Ensure cost-effectiveness by tailoring channel activity programs to retailer needs.

  • Performance Monitoring & Best Practice
    • Track and evaluate activity, sharing insights across the Field Sales and Asahi UK account team.
    • Monitor KPIs to ensure growth objectives are met.

Key Weekly Activities

  • 80% Account Management

    • Conduct circa 6 calls per day to retain existing business.
    • Collaborate with RTM partners to drive organic growth.
  • 20% New Business Development

    • Proactively explore expansion opportunities through networking and market understanding.

Role includes extensive travel throughout the region, including visits to Head Office (Woking) and central meeting points. The role may require evening or weekend work occasionally.

Experience Required

  • Proven success in sales roles within major FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or drinks companies.
  • Strong account management experience with a track record of:
    • Delivering and managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
    • Structured selling skills adapted to premium markets.
    • Understanding point-of-purchase (POP) brand strategies.
  • Self-motivated with accountability for results and ownership of mistakes.
  • High-level communication and presentation skills.

    • Experience with premium brands and ability to communicate their unique value.
    • Deep understanding of portfolio building and right-product-for-right-outlet/consumer positioning.

    • Ability to craft mutually beneficial joint business plans (JBPs) by aligning customer needs with Company objectives.
    • Balanced initiative and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Career Growth Perspective

    • Willingness to relocate or transition to different territories if career progression is desired.
  • Market & Product Awareness

    • Strong familiarity with current product lines and their positioning within competitive markets.
