Working within the Medical group across the MIMS Healthcare Network (MHN)
The MIMS Healthcare Network encompasses a portfolio of trusted, well-established brands including GPonline, GP Business, MIMS, and MIMS Learning, designed to keep healthcare professionals informed on industry news, clinical education, drug information and practice management. Elevating our industry reach, our newest brand, MIMS Pharma, delivers specialised business intelligence and market insights tailored specifically for the pharmaceutical sector.
The Role
The Account Director is responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with healthcare advertising agencies, positioning the MIMS Healthcare Network as a trusted commercial partner and delivering integrated advertising solutions that meet client objectives. Driving sustainable revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing existing accounts and working collaboratively across the business to maximise commercial performance. This role focuses on cultivating strong relationships with advertising agencies and developing strategic plans to accelerate growth and expand market share. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with agency partners to design and execute integrated, cross-platform advertising campaigns across the MIMS Healthcare Network to drive revenue growth. Representing the MIMS Healthcare Network externally, providing market insight, building long-term partnerships and contributing to the continued growth and commercial success of the MIMS Healthcare Network.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare advertising agencies, acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts and developing long-term strategic partnerships with media planners and buyers.
- Develop account plans that identify opportunities for growth, maximise revenue and support the delivery of commercial objectives.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality commercial presentations, proposals and pitches that demonstrate the value of the MIMS Healthcare Network and win new business to increase MHN’s market share.
- Promote the full portfolio of MIMS Healthcare Network products and services, identifying opportunities to deliver integrated, cross-platform advertising solutions.
- Schedule regular client meetings, agency roadshows and group presentations to keep partners educated on new product offerings, digital developments and audience insights.
- Manage a robust sales pipeline, providing accurate forecasting and reporting to support business planning and commercial decision-making.
- Take full ownership of agency-driven revenue targets, creating structured account plans to ensure consistent growth and provide accurate revenue forecasts.
- Work collaboratively with Ad Operations, Marketing and other internal teams to ensure campaigns are delivered efficiently and meet client expectations.
- Gather market intelligence, competitor insight and customer feedback to identify emerging opportunities and inform future commercial strategy and product development.
- Advise senior leadership on new commercial opportunities, feature requests, or gaps in the market to help shape future ad tech and content products.
- Build strong relationships across the wider business, contributing to continuous improvement and the successful delivery of commercial objectives.
Key Relationships
The Account Director will work collaboratively with the Sales Director, Group Commercial Director and key stakeholders to drive commercial success, enhance the client experience and identify opportunities for growth. They will also partner closely with internal teams including Marketing, Ad Operations, and leadership, to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria
Knowledge
- Knowledge of B2B media, advertising sales and agency partnerships.
- Understanding of consultative selling, account management and commercial relationship development.
- Good knowledge and understanding of commercial sales principles and customer relationship management.
- Knowledge of CRM systems and sales pipeline management, ideally Salesforce.
- Comprehensive knowledge of integrated advertising solutions across digital, content, events and multimedia platforms.
- Knowledge of the healthcare sector, particularly pharmaceutical marketing and healthcare communications, would be advantageous.
- Awareness of market trends, competitor activity and commercial opportunities.
Skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with clients and build strong relationships, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and account planning skills.
- Ability to identify opportunities for account growth and develop strategic commercial partnerships.
- Experience planning and executing deliverables to maximise account growth.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, forecasts and deadlines.
- Analytical and commercially minded, with the ability to interpret market insight and customer data.
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience
- Experience in B2B media sales, advertising sales and account management.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with advertising agencies or major commercial clients.
- Proficient in delivering commercial presentations, proposals and pitches that support business growth.
- Experience developing existing accounts while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Confident using CRM systems to manage pipelines, forecasting and customer relationships.
- Experience collaborating across commercial, marketing and operational teams to deliver successful client campaigns.
