Role: Account Director
Business Unit: Med Comms
Location: Macclesfield or London (Hybrid) or UK (remote)
About Us
Established in 2005, Bioscript Group is formed from multiple, specialist businesses to support our global pharmaceutical clients; we draw on their multidisciplinary expertise to help navigate critical decisions at key points in the product lifecycle.
Our scientific and strategic expertise help our clients make better decisions. We provide medical communication services, market access consulting and regulatory writing support with deep domain expertise to effectively navigate complex disease areas.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Account Director to take strategic and tactical leadership of a group of accounts worth up to £2.5 million, alongside a senior scientific services counterpart. This position combines hands-on account delivery with genuine commercial accountability: you will own client service and financial performance for your accounts, drive your accounts forward, line-manage colleagues and lead organic and new business growth.
You will also work closely with the Portfolio Director on forecasting, resource planning and account performance. The role can be based in Macclesfield, London or remotely in the UK, with travel to client companies and events in the UK and internationally as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, drive and direct client accounts, taking ownership of overall client service, financial and project delivery on one or multiple accounts of a value of approximately £2.5 million
- Manage, lead and motivate Client Services team members, providing regular coaching and feedback
- Meet account financial targets and ensure accurate budgeting, tracking and forecasting, leading the account optimisation process and contributing to annual forecasts for your accounts
- Monitor and report on account-level performance indicators, including revenue and recoverability, proposing solutions where needed
- Support in the planning and managing of team resource, reporting these to the Portfolio Director
- Proactively seek to understand each client’s strategy, aims and objectives, provide strategic input where appropriate and work closely with scientific services teams to keep clients satisfied through high-quality tactical delivery
- Build long-term senior client relationships and actively drive organic growth within accounts
- Troubleshoot and handle client objections effectively, calling on and updating the Portfolio Director as necessary
- Lead initiatives that contribute to sustainable business growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities, including participation in credentials presentations, pitches and RFI/RFP responses
- Work with other functional groups to maximise synergies and support an end-to-end service offering for clients
- Provide leadership for onsite teams in all job functions, taking overall responsibility for the smooth running of projects, positive client and thought leader interactions, and team wellbeing
- Continually assess the team’s performance, potential and development needs, and communicate these proactively to the Portfolio Director
- Ensure team compliance with all client-specific Master Service Agreement requirements, guidelines, training and tools
- Understand and apply industry guidelines, codes of practice and legislation (including the ABPI and PhRMA codes, Good Publication Practice, ICMJE, the Sunshine Act and copyright), keep this knowledge current and support colleagues and clients in doing the same
- Support the achievement of Bioscript revenue and profit goals

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
