Account Director Europe

About The Role

The Account Director role is a pivotal senior executive appointment, responsible for leading the overall strategic relationship management and account delivery for a leading, global investment management client within the newly formed Investor Portfolio Management businesses across Property Management, Europe. This role ensures overall client satisfaction and account performance while simultaneously cultivating a culture of operational excellence across the account, focusing on quality, efficiency, integration, and cost, with indirect oversight and influence over process enablers.

This crucial executive leadership role is client-facing and involves significant liaison with C-level decision makers within the account and the CBRE executive team, in addition to delivering key operational objectives. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the ongoing strategic relationship development for the benefit of multiple service lines across the CBRE group.
  • Facilitate innovation, change management, and product adoption across the account.
  • Drive measurable revenue growth and attachment over time.
  • Strategically select, develop, motivate, and retain a high-achieving team.

We would be open to locating this role in one of our key European locations: Amsterdam, London, or Paris.


What You’ll Do

Account & Contract Management

  • Ensure full financial and operational performance of the Account.
  • Provide senior-level guidance and oversight on account to align with contract delivery, managing scope interpretation as needed.
  • Engage with CBRE’s executive team to cultivate senior-level partnership and leverage the broader Group portfolio to introduce new scope, business products, and pricing, while ensuring an integrated set of services.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts, possessing a solid understanding of contractual terms and implications.

Strategic Planning

  • Act as an expert in the client's business strategy, contributing to its improvement and collaborating on the delivery of client goals.
  • Support the growth of the client’s business via the development and execution of:
    • Account Business Plan
    • Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Influence the client’s planning and budgeting processes to enhance value and optimize performance.
  • Represent the client’s interests both externally and internally within Property Management & CBRE.
  • Accommodate and plan for portfolio contraction and expansion into the account operating model.
  • Oversee successful management of scope expansion & renewal activities, coordinating with:
    • Account Subject Matter Experts
    • Sales & Solutions Governance
  • Engage with the broadest set of stakeholders and teams from CBRE to generate maximum value for the client.

Governance

  • Partner closely with client leaders to understand account operational challenges, goals, and opportunities, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Co-develop roadmaps, risk mitigation approaches, and best practices with client leaders to ensure cross-account alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Establish governance leadership, including:
    • Executive Partnership Board
    • Business Transformation Committee
    • Operational Excellence Board
    • Cross Sector Collaboration Board
  • Lead ongoing client engagement in tracking strategic outcomes, mitigating escalations, and managing contracted performance.

Education & Qualification

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university.
  • 15+ years of strategic leadership experience in a global organization, leading large, geographically distributed teams.
  • Financial fluency and technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated track record in operational excellence.
  • Senior executive presence.

Experience

  • Extensive experience managing client accounts and employee groups across Europe, with knowledge of local labor laws.
  • Enterprise strategy deployment, including:
    • Experience in matrix and cross-team networking
    • Operationalizing client relationship management
  • Proven ability to collaborate with regional and service line leaders
  • Experience with managing contracts and commercial models, with a commitment to delivering savings and value-add outcomes.
  • Track record at the C-suite level, identifying and prioritizing agenda insights from sector perspectives.
  • Provide comprehensive market-sizing, geographic, and sub-sector analyses to determine target opportunities.
  • Monitor the financial impact of account growth, including profit margins and client profitiqué in market benchmarks.
  • Collaboration across CBRE to:
    • Align target plans
    • Consult with Operational Excellence for margin improvement.
  • Network-building skills for cross-functional stakeholder engagement and visibility.
  • Collaborate across all CBRE sectors to encourage alignment and excellence.
