Role Description
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Account Director will drive strategic growth across UK government accounts by winning new business, growing existing relationships, and delivering customer-focused technology solutions. The role focuses on building long-term partnerships and aligning Telent's capabilities with government priorities.
This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to travel when necessary.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute a Central Government account strategy aligned to Telent's 5-year business plan.
- Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across government departments and agencies.
- Drive new business growth while expanding existing Central Government accounts.
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of long-term service opportunities.
- Create and deliver Account Development Plans for key customers.
- Lead and support major bids, proposals, and framework opportunities.
- Understand government priorities, procurement processes, and digital transformation agendas.
- Develop customer-focused, outcome-led service solutions in collaboration with technical and delivery teams.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Bid Management, Engineering, and Delivery to maximise success.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, effective pipeline management, and a smooth transition from sales to delivery.

Who you are
You are an experienced Central Government sales professional with a proven track record of winning new business and growing strategic accounts. You have an established network across UK Government, understand the public sector landscape, and excel at building senior relationships while delivering outcome-focused service solutions.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience selling services into UK Government is essential
- Strong understanding of UK central government structure and priorities
- Established network of contacts across key government departments and agencies
- Proven track record in business development and winning new business
- Experience in services and solution selling, with a focus on delivering outcomes
- Ability to build relationships and influence at senior levels
