Account Director (Player-Coach) | London, hybrid
Up to £80,000 base plus commission, OTE around £130,000.
A fast-growing, niche, experiential advertising business is looking for an Account Director to lead a small team and personally grow a book of higher-value accounts.
The business connects household-name brands across food delivery, tech and financial services with hard to reach consumers. Historically, the account base has been sold transactionally, which means a lot of clients have never been shown the wider opportunity, and some haven't been contacted in months. That is the gap this role exists to close.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'd own

Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You'd lead and develop four account managers as a genuine player-coach, while carrying your own book of 10 to 15 higher-value accounts below the enterprise tier. Day to day that means coaching the team, modelling consultative selling on your own clients, embedding a proper contact cadence and account planning, and moving accounts up the value ladder. One recent partnership on this book grew from a c.£20K activation into a c.£300K relationship, and this role is about making that kind of growth repeatable.
What we're looking for
- Proven consultative account management with a clear record of growing account spend, not pure new-business hunting.
- Real people-management experience, ideally a current or recent player-coach with a couple of years leading a team who sees management as the next step, so not a first-time manager and not someone looking to step back onto the tools.
- You can take transactional sellers and build solution-selling habits in them.
- You lead with curiosity and commercial judgement over growth at all costs.
- You're comfortable carrying a personal target and commission.
- Media, advertising, experiential or events or B2B services all a plus.
