About the Role
Reporting to the Global Sales Director, the Account Director takes full ownership of the commercial relationship with a portfolio of key client accounts. This role carries complete responsibility for meeting revenue targets, securing renewals, and driving sustainable account growth. The purpose of this position is not to win new clients.
The successful candidate will develop strong strategic relationships with senior client stakeholders, gain deep insight into their business objectives, pinpoint where expertise can deliver the greatest impact, and convert measurable results into successful renewals, expansion opportunities, and enduring partnerships.

Responsibilities
- Hold end-to-end accountability for a portfolio of assigned accounts, including revenue performance, renewals, retention, expansion, and overall commercial success.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level strategic relationships with key decision-makers, economic buyers, and executive sponsors.
- Develop and regularly update detailed account strategies, stakeholder mappings, renewal timelines, and growth opportunity plans.
- Identify, qualify, and advance new business opportunities by aligning client needs with the relevant solutions and services.
- Manage the full renewal process, identifying potential risks early and mobilising internal resources to address them effectively.
- Work closely with Sales Performance Consultants to gather adoption metrics, performance insights, and client feedback that strengthen renewal and growth conversations.
- Partner with New Business teams, delivery consultants, project managers, and senior leaders to ensure consistent service delivery, manage risks, and provide a seamless client experience.
- Keep all account documentation, forecasts, action items, and health indicators accurate and up to date to support informed decision-making.
- Lead commercial negotiations, proposal development, renewal planning, and contracting while safeguarding profitability, quality, and long-term client relationships.
Success Measures
- Consistently meet or exceed revenue targets across the assigned account portfolio.
- Achieve strong renewal rates with potential issues flagged and resolved well in advance.
- Build and convert a robust pipeline of expansion opportunities in line with account growth objectives.
- Maintain comprehensive, current, and actionable account plans and CRM records that effectively guide activity.
- Demonstrate and communicate tangible client value to support renewal confidence and expansion discussions.

Required Skills & Experience
- Solid commercial background in B2B
- Proven ability to manage revenue targets, renewals, and growth within complex, multi-stakeholder client relationships
- Experience building trusted relationships and influencing at senior executive levels.
- Experience selling high-value deals: 6-figure and 7-figure agreements
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to connect commercial goals, delivery excellence, and measurable client outcomes.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Learning and Development background, or HR-centric experience
- Commercially sharp, well-organised, and proactive in spotting opportunities and addressing risks.
- Highly effective communicator who can convey ideas clearly and persuasively in meetings, presentations, and written formats.
- Disciplined and reliable, with excellent attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
- Proficient user of CRM systems (ideally Salesforce), maintaining accurate forecasts, opportunity tracking, and account records.
- Genuinely interested in understanding client challenges and translating those insights into practical commercial strategies.
- Team-oriented yet decisive, capable of working collaboratively while retaining clear ownership of commercial results.
