Account Director – Healthcare Communications

Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Relationship Management
As a senior leader within the team, you will be the trusted strategic advisor to clients, fostering long-term partnerships based on insight, credibility, and exceptional delivery.
- Lead and develop senior client relationships, acting as a trusted strategic partner
- Identify opportunities to grow accounts and strengthen partnerships
- Align with client priorities and provide proactive, solution-focused counsel
- Confidently lead client meetings, workshops, and presentations
- Ensure consistently high-quality delivery across all programmes
Strategic Counsel & Programme Delivery
Shape and oversee integrated communications programmes that deliver measurable value for clients. Balance strategy, science, and commercial awareness to execute projects effectively—all while maintaining the highest quality standards.

- Develop communication strategies aligned with client objectives and trends
- Oversee the planning and delivery of programmes across multiple accounts
- Manage risk, budgets, timelines, and resources for successful execution
- Collaborate with colleagues (both at Madano and AVENIR GLOBAL) to deliver seamless solutions
- Apply industry insights and emerging trends to strengthen programmes
Business Development
Seek out opportunities before others do and feel motivated by converting relationships into enduring, valuable partnerships. Play an active role in growing existing accounts and shaping future success for the Healthcare Practice.
- Identify and develop opportunities for organic account growth
- Contribute to pitches, proposals, and new business efforts
- Build and maintain proactive relationships across the healthcare sector
- Work with colleagues to devise innovative client solutions
- Represent Madano at industry events and professional networks
Leadership, Coaching & Team Development
Help cultivate an environment where talented people thrive. Act as a leader, mentor, and role model, nurturing colleagues while maintaining a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Lead, mentor, and develop account teams and medical writers
- Cultivate an inclusive, supportive, and ambitious team culture
- Provide regular coaching, constructive feedback, and career development opportunities
- Inspire teams to exceed every client expectation
- Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Commercial & Financial Leadership
Assume ownership of commercial performance for your clients—ensuring deliverables are cost-effective and aligned with sustainable growth for the practice.
- Manage account budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Monitor financial performance, revenue, and profitability
- Support accurate invoicing and commercial reporting
- Identify efficiencies and opportunities for account optimisation
Quality & Operational Excellence
Champion unwavering standards across everything we do, ensuring high precision, consistency, and attention to detail. Drive continuous improvement in account and project management processes.
- Uphold quality benchmarks for all client deliverables
- Ensure rigorous review and quality assurance protocols
- Incorporate client feedback into delivery enhancements
- Streamline and optimise account and project workflows
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in healthcare or medical communications
- A proven track record of client leadership
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on growing accounts
- Ability to develop strategic communications programmes and translate complex science into compelling narratives
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
