Account Director, Marketplace Demand - Comcast Advertising

Account Director, Marketplace Demand UK & Northern Europe – FreeWheel (Comcast Company)

About the Role

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, delivers cutting-edge ad platforms for publishers, advertisers, and media buyers, leveraging premium video content, robust data, and advanced technology to streamline transactions across screens, data types, and sales channels. Based in nine global offices—including UK & Northern Europe—this role is dedicated to driving incremental revenue growth for FreeWheel publishers by specialtyising in programmatic monetisation, marketplace inventory optimisation, and client/cross-functional collaboration.

Reporting to the Director, Marketplace Activation, this position will require a combination of strategic business development, deal execution, performance analysis, and high-level stakeholder management.


Core Responsibilities

Inventory Monetisation & Strategy

  • Develop and implement account strategies to increase programmatic spend on FreeWheel Marketplace inventory, aligning with Supply and Demand’s commercial goals.
  • Drive buy-side account expansion by identifying opportunities to scale campaign investments.
  • Deeply understand advertiser, agency, and brand needs concerning inventory quality, KPIs, and supply-side platform (SSP) functionality.
  • Partner with the Supply Team to identify and prioritise high-value inventory monetisation opportunities.

Deal Curation & Performance Analytics

  • Plan, execute, and monitor programmatic deals, ensuring alignment with revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with Publisher Managers to refine campaign and inventory packaging strategies for better effectiveness.
  • Track, analyse, and report key performance metrics, including:
    • STR (Supply Tax Rate)
    • eCPM (effective Cost Per Mille)
    • Conversion rates
    • Client satisfaction
    • Campaign fill rates
  • Generate data-driven insights for internal stakeholders and buyers, translating metrics into actionable campaign improvements.
  • Execute against cross-functional revenue objectives under your manager’s direction.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Client Success

  • Bridge supply and demand by facilitating seamless deal execution between FreeWheel Supply Teams and demand partners.
  • Work closely with Inventory Monetisation Specialists and Media Partnerships to align inventory optimisation with demand trends.
  • Serve as the primary buyer/publisher contact, negotiating terms, managing expectations, and mitigating conflicts on behalf of the Marketplace.
  • Champion customer-centric solutions, showcasing FreeWheel’s technology and marketplace capabilities to drive long-term partnerships.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Industry expertise: Proven track record in programmatic advertising, digital media, AdTech, or account management, ideally with experience in:
    • Agency-to-publisher transactions
    • Advertiser/client relationship management
    • DSP (Demand-Side Platform) or SSP (Supply-Side Platform) negotiations
  • Technical understanding of:
    • Private Marketplaces (PMPs)
    • Deal IDs and inventory monetisation techniques
    • Media buying trends (e.g., header bidding, pre-bid analytics)
  • Revenue growth mindset—successful history in expanding client spend, identifying commercial opportunities, and exceeding targets within existing accounts.
  • Stakeholder management: Ability to cultivate relationships with clients, agencies, and internal teams while aligning on strategic goals.
  • Data literacy:
    • Comfort analysing performance metrics (CPM, eCPM, fill rates, conversion, spend trends).
    • Experience using data tools to benchmark campaign ROI and product recommendations.
  • Deal execution proficiency:
    • End-to-end experience in programmatic deals, marketplace activations, and bid strategy optimisation.
  • Soft skills:
    • Clear communication (presentations, commercial storytelling).
    • Problem-solving to address client pain points and exceed expectations.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in fast-moving, cross-functional teams with commercial accountability.
