The Account Director is responsible for leading a portfolio of client accounts, acting as the senior strategic partner and primary point of contact. This role drives the overall client relationship, ensuring delivery excellence, commercial performance, and long-term growth. The Account Director will translate client objectives into innovative event strategies, lead cross-functional teams, and maintain the highest standards of service, promote creativity, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship & Strategic Leadership
- Own, develop, and execute strategic relationship plans for Executive Leadership, C-Suite, and key stakeholders across assigned accounts.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel, insight, and creative innovation that supports their business objectives and elevates partnership value.
- Lead the creation and execution of robust client retention and growth strategies, ensuring year-on-year account stability and expansion.
- Develop and implement tailored business development plans within existing client portfolios, identifying opportunities for new services and revenue streams.
- Champion the agency’s full-service offering, ensuring amplification services (digital, creative, production, engagement, etc.) are effectively positioned and integrated into client solutions.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Own the financial performance of allocated accounts, including revenue forecasting, gross margin delivery, and profitability targets.
- Lead the commercial review process, ensuring accurate pricing models, transparent financial tracking, and proactive margin management.
- Drive commercial excellence through regular analysis of client profitability, resource utilisation, and pricing initiatives.
- Ensure internal CRMs, budgets, and commercial documentation are accurate, complete, and aligned with internal governance standards.

Client Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Oversee delivery of all client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring standards of excellence across all programs.
- Provide senior oversight of project/account management teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest compliance and quality standards.
- Partner with internal operations, compliance, and delivery teams to maintain robust governance frameworks.
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to evaluate performance against KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and shape future strategies.
New Business & RFP Management
- In partnership with New Business Development, lead the strategic response and delivery of RFPs, proposals, and pitch presentations for assigned accounts and support new opportunities that IXM receive.
- Contribute to the development of thought leadership, case studies, and credentials that reinforce the agency’s expertise within the LifeSciences sector.
People Management
- Develop, mentor and coach all direct reports ensuring monthly meetings to discuss progress and review development plans.
- Oversee the development, mentoring and coaching of the wider team.
- Working with the Associate Director Talent Management, monitor development plans for all team members considering:
- Current skills analysis
- Training needs analysis
- Individual’s needs and desires
- Development planning strategies
- Lead on recruitment process, interviewing and selecting new team members.
- Provide consistent leadership, motivation and direction to all team members.
- Work with Executive Leadership to ensure all teams are consistently sharing best practice and delivering to Impact-XM standards at all times.
- Management of direct report holidays and lieu days.
- Oversee the management of wider team holidays and lieu days.
General
- Monitor and review timesheet activity in Company time sheet system.
- Prepare monthly client project analysis to ensure team and recruitment costs are assessed against client budget.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in client services, account management, or event strategy.
- Proven track record of managing global or multi-market client portfolios and developing long-term senior stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrable experience in budget management, margin optimisation, and pricing strategy.
- In-depth understanding of industry compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and fostering collaboration across operations, creative, digital, and production functions.
- Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and service excellence.
