Account Executive (Americas, Canada , United Kingdom, Ireland)

About The Role

Account Executives at Shopify own merchant growth. You find, win, and launch merchants onto the platform, then set them up to succeed. This posting spans every segment, from SMB through Mid-Market, Large, and Enterprise, and covers both direct-to-consumer (DTC) and retail selling. You own the merchant relationship from first contact through to a live, transacting merchant, creating value for merchants in a way that sets up success for Shopify across both new acquisition and expansion.

Note: By applying to the Account Executive posting, our recruiters and hiring managers across various departments will review your resume for multiple openings across SMB, Mid-Market, Large, and Enterprise segments. We aim to fit you with the role that provides the best match.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate your own pipeline by self-sourcing and executing consistent outbound prospecting via email, phone, and LinkedIn to initiate new merchant conversations.
  • Own the merchant relationship from first contact to launch as a live, transacting merchant.
  • Run the full sales cycle, including:
    • Qualifying opportunities
    • Leading discovery sessions
    • Documenting merchant goals and pain points
    • Navigating the buying process with champions and **economic buyers
  • Deliver value-based selling by quantifying business impact and crafting tailored return-on-investment (ROI) narratives, avoiding generic pitches.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a closing sales role, with a track record of thriving in competitive environments and achieving results.
  • Strong proficiency in outbound prospecting and the ability to operate effectively in a high-volume sales setting.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle end-to-end sales cycles, from discovery through negotiation and closing.
  • A consultative, relationship-driven approach that fosters rapid trust-building and uncovers genuine merchant needs.
  • Resilience and adaptability to remain productive even amid shifting priorities or changing conditions.
  • disciplined time and sales pipeline management without compromising rigor.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) platform and sales engagement tools.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Expect to iterate processes and challenge assumptions.
  • Ownership of outcomes is the expectation, not waiting for optimal conditions.
  • Perfect conditions may rarely exist. If you thrive on responsibility and growth here; if you prioritize comfort over ambition, the role won’t suit you.

About Shopify

Equity of opportunity doesn’t come easy—Shopify exists to give people with dreams the power to start businesses and grow them.

  • Our mission has scaled from modest origins in 2006 to supporting over 8,300 employees.
  • We’ve fuelled over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants globally across 175 countries.

This is more than a job; it’s life-changing work with impacts that ripple across lives and economies. We believe in putting power in the hands of everyone—that’s creating more voices, more choices, and a world for the many, not just the elite.

About You

Success here demands adaptability, hustle, and the ability to manage change, even where it feels chaotic. It isn’t for everyone.

This is your moment-to-evaluate fit if you can:

  • Care deeply about improving commerce for all.
  • Seek continuous professional and personal growth.
  • Stay competitive over sustained, relentless work weeks—not quarters.
  • Remain optimistic during ambiguity and leverage challenges rather than enduring them.
  • Work both independently and with constructively critical thought.
  • Use AI tools for suitable purposes, focusing on uniquely human tasks.
  • Embrace divergent voices and disagreements to accelerate problem-solving and growth.
  • Operate remotely (or digital-first for operational needs).
