The Opportunity
Our client is building out one of the most strategically significant new desks in institutional FX. The Private Markets Desk has just been established and they are looking for the people who will define it. This is not a bolt-on hire. It is a foundational role within a brand-new, high-conviction business line, purpose-built to serve the private capital market: private equity funds, private credit managers, real asset funds, and infrastructure investors who have long been underserved by banks and generic FX providers.
For the right person, joining at this stage means building a client portfolio from genuine white space, with an institutional balance sheet and global infrastructure behind you from day one.
Who Are They?
A Nasdaq-listed global financial services platform providing market access, liquidity, and FX and interest rate risk management to a blue-chip institutional client base. 3,000+ employees across 50+ offices worldwide, investment-grade rated, with an 11-year track record of sequential profit growth $418 million profit before tax and over $2 billion in net revenues in FY25.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Private Markets Desk is a newly launched, strategic build within the wider institutional FX business. It exists to solve a real problem: private capital managers executing complex cross-border strategies have historically received generic, transactional FX service from providers who don't understand fund structures, capital cycles, or how NAV hedging actually works. This desk changes that. With international expansion already planned across London, Singapore, and New York.
The Role
Titled internally as Portfolio Manager, this is a relationship-led, commercially driven business development role. Built for someone credible and confident in front of sophisticated institutional decision-makers. You will build and own a portfolio of private markets clients, delivering tailored FX and rates solutions around fund flows, capital calls, distributions and portfolio-level currency exposures. Sourcing and engaging senior decision-makers at PE funds, private credit managers, real asset and infrastructure funds - CFOs, COOs and Treasury teams. For each mandate you originate, you will work directly with senior trading, structuring and operations teams to deliver best-in-class execution and solutions. Commissions are uncapped, paid quarterly, and tied directly to the portfolio you build.
