About the Role

Position: Commercial Account Handler (Broking Support) Location: Newbury Salary: Negotiable with benefits package

We’re seeking an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join our welcoming team in Newbury.


Key Responsibilities

In this critical role, you’ll provide technical, customer relationship, and administrative support to an Account Executive (AE) and the wider team. Responsibilities include:

  • Handling commercial & corporate-sized risks for high-profile clients across diverse industries
  • Supporting ongoing business, new business broking, and client visits
  • Servicing accounts through the renewals lifecycle, including:
    • Renewal administration
    • Preparation of presentations for insurers
    • Premium negotiation with underwriters
    • Policy adjustments & reporting
  • Demonstrating expertise in customer service, negotiation, broking, and insurance market awareness

An ideal candidate will expect a long-term opportunity and be looking to expand their responsibilities beyond routine account handling.


Daily Duties

New & Renewal Support:

  • Collaborate with AEs to achieve new business and renewal targets via proactive administration and customer support.
  • Provide profiles for new prospects via research (e.g., CreditSafe, Google, company websites) and prepare due diligence documentation.
  • Obtain competitive quotes for upsell opportunities (e.g., Excess PL, D&O, Excess PI, Loss Recovery).
  • Secure renewal meetings on behalf of AEs and assist with 1-2 visits per month.

Renewal Operations:

  • Prepare Renewal Review reports and gather claims data.
  • Obtain quotations for agreed upsells, integrating findings into renewal presentation documentation.

Client Engagement & Administration:

  • Handle both allocated and unallocated client enquiries, liaising with insurers/attach AEs for technical issues.
  • Maintain an efficient workflow: debt tracking, queries, documentation chasing, renewal terms.
  • Conduct market placements for new business/renewals aligned with the AE’s strategy.
  • Occasionally support admin duties for wider Commercial Administration as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Minimum 2+ years in commercial insurance (broking/underwriting).
  • Hands-on experience managing new business, renewals, and midterm adjustments.
  • Deep understanding of Commercial Insurance products.
  • Familiarity with Acturis insurance broking software is advantageous.
  • Commitment to Cert CII progression.
  • Full driving licence.
