Account Handler
Commercial Account Handler – Broking Support
Location: Newbury Salary: Negotiable + benefits
About the Role: Within Brown & Brown’s team, we seek an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join our welcoming office in Newbury. The role focuses on providing technical, customer relationship, and administrative support—supporting both our Account Executives (AEs) and broader team in delivering it.
Responsibilities: You will manage commercial and corporate risks for high-profile clients across industries, handling:
- New business brokerage and existing account management
- Client visits and retention efforts
- Renewal lifecycle support, including:
- Renewal administration
- Production of insurer presentations
- Premium negotiation
- Processing midterm adjustments
- Report preparation and client documentation

Brokerage duties include:
- Proactively collaborating with AE’s on prospect research via public sources (credit reports, websites).
- Obtaining quotations for up-sale risks (excess PL, D&O, excess PI, loss recovery).
- Creating comprehensive renewal/review documents.
- Supporting AE’s with client renewals and new business submissions.
Collaborative tasks include:
- Mounting AE’s new business pipeline with disruptive support.
- Managing debtors/documentation lists, chasing-up renewals or queries.
- Liaising with insurers/third parties in policy administration.
- Occasional administration and customer service backstopping under management direction.
Experience & Skills: Essential:
- Minimum 2 years in commercial brokerage or its equivalents.
- Proficiency in new business (profiling/enquiries), renewals, and midterm adjustments.
- Strong commercial insurance product knowledge.
- Understanding of insurer negotiation, claims experience, and cross-class risks.

Desirable:
- Knowledge of Acturis or similar brokerage platforms.
- Cert CII acquisition intent.
- Full-current driving licence.
