Account Management Executive - Public Sector

Account Management Executive – Public Sector (Barclays & Hackajob Partnership)

About the Role

Join hackajob and Barclays in Northampton as an Account Management Executive within our Public Sector team. You’ll support Relationship Directors and Managers in delivering exceptional service to a portfolio of public sector clients, fostering trust, aligning tailored banking solutions with client objectives, and identifying growth opportunities.

Operating in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you’ll contribute to portfolio management, assist with client reviews, and grow existing relationships while adhering to regulatory and risk management principles. This role offers a chance to develop commercial awareness and expand your stakeholder network within public sector banking.


Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with public sector clients to align financial needs with tailored Barclays solutions.
  • Act as an advocate for clients, identifying their financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance.
  • Analyse data trends (e.g., investment portfolios, cash flow) to uncover opportunities for value-added services.

Strategic Account Planning

  • Research industry trends, regulatory landscapes, and competitive environments to support strategic decision-making.
  • Design and propose customised solutions integrating Barclays’ products and services to meet client objectives.
  • Communicate value propositions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms benefitting both the client and bank.

Commercial & Risk Oversight

  • Monitor financial risks associated with client relationships and implement mitigations to reduce potential losses.
  • Ensure all client interactions, transactions, and agreements are documented for transparency, compliance, and auditability.
  • Evaluate client satisfaction, revenue, and relationship effectiveness against business metrics.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Partner with product and specialist teams to deliver high-quality service.
  • Act as a bridge between Barclays and clients, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term engagement.
  • Support team development (if applicable) by applying LEAD behaviours:

Requirements

Essential

  • A strong client focus, with the ability to understand needs and deliver a high-quality service.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organisational discipline to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a regulated environment.
  • A comprehension of risk and control principles in banking.

Desirable

  • Experience in corporate/client relationship management (public, private, or financial sector).
  • Exposure to sales processes, including opportunity identification and progression.
  • Familiarity with public sector organisations and their financial priorities.
  • Understanding of financial products, services, or account management frameworks.
