About The Role

The Corporate Subscription team in Wiley's Applied Research Intelligence group is seeking a strategic sales professional responsible for helping the world's most research-intensive companies build AI-ready knowledge infrastructure using peer-reviewed scientific content.

This role focuses on:

  • Managing key corporate accounts across multiple industries
  • Developing new business opportunities
  • Selling complex solutions through a consultative, value-driven approach

You will sell complex solutions, requiring deep customer insight, tailored proposals, and a focus on account growth to close opportunities.


Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management

  • Develop and implement territory sales plans to meet/exceed revenue targets, uncover customer needs, and build stakeholder networks across multiple personas
  • Create cross-sell and upsell strategies to grow account revenue
  • Prospect for new business opportunities while managing existing relationships
  • Identify and engage key account stakeholders with tailored growth strategies
  • Develop data-driven account expansion tactics to fuel opportunities

Sales Process & Negotiation

  • Apply a structured solution-selling methodology (discovery, business case development, and multi-stakeholder engagement) to progress complex deals
  • Craft ROI-focused commercial proposals that align Wiley solutions with AI or research workflow challenges
  • Execute negotiation strategies to drive stakeholder consensus and close deals
  • Leverage the entire product portfolio in negotiations
  • Federate pipeline data and forecast effectively within CRM systems
  • Use analytics to refine sales strategies and optimise deal outcomes

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts
  • Proactively assess client goals and recommend value-driven solutions
  • Partner with Customer Success to ensure measurable outcomes
  • Deliver exceptional service and exceed customer expectations

Market & Customer Intelligence

  • Conduct in-depth customer research using multiple data sources
  • Analyze market trends and competitive approaches
  • Tailor outreach strategies based on insights
  • Represent Wiley at targeted industry conferences and customer events
  • Track emerging trends in AI-driven research workflows

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to develop tailored solutions
  • Design and deliver high-stakes presentations addressing customer challenges and budgets
  • Partner with Legal to streamline agreements andünting g agreement processes
  • Communicate insights and solutions with internal/external stakeholders
  • Lead with sales and marketing colleagues in a high-impact role

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • 3+ years of B2B sales experience, with a proven track record in selling complex, multi-stakeholder solutions to research-intensive corporate clients (e.g., pharma, biotech, chemicals, engineering)
  • Corporate account management and business development experience
  • Experience with AI applications in research or corporate environments
  • Background in R&D workflows (e.g., pharma drug discovery, materials science, food regulatory science, or industrial chemicals)

  • Consulting, scientific advisory, or solutions architecture experience where diagnosing needs led to commercial recommendations
