Account Manager – Public Sector
About the Role
Version 1 is keen to recruit an experienced Account Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Account Manager looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to work with large-scale clients.
You will develop an existing portfolio of customer accounts across the public sector, ensuring delivery of sales and growth targets while maximising revenue and providing the highest level of customer service.
The role will be part of a successful team focused on Public Sector opportunities. The team includes salespeople who generate new opportunities and/or lead responses to large government tenders, and Account Managers who manage opportunities within the existing customer base.
Responsibilities
- Develop public sector customer accounts to meet and exceed sales and growth targets
- Maximise revenue while maintaining the highest level of customer service
- Collaborate with salespeople to respond effectively to tenders and proposals
- Engage with multi-level stakeholders to drive solution adoption and customer success
- Ensure accurate completion of tender documentation and internal proposals
- Manage project timelines while prioritising and residing effective time management
- Foster long-term client relationships by understanding and aligning with government and public sector priorities

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Experience working in a business development/account management environment (preferably with Public Sector/Central Government knowledge)
- Experience in IT services and technology solutions environments (not strictly product-focused)
- Knowledge of Public Sector tender processes, including RFPs, RFIs, and bid submissions
- Strong influencing skills to encourage collaboration and action across non-reporting parties
- Exceptional written communication skills, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for high-quality documentation and tenders
- Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage at all organisational levels
- Experience building strong customer relationships
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project & business dynamics
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritise effectively, and recognise issues requiring external expertise

Desired Qualifications
- Sales & Account Management experience, including client negotiations and contract discussions
- Experience in developing long-term business opportunities through tenders, bids, and proposals (both Fixed Price & Time & Materials projects)
