Account Manager – Lens Care, UK Grocery Channel ZEISS Vision Care UK

The Role

We’re seeking an Account Manager – Lens Care to drive growth within the UK Grocery Channel, working from Birmingham with regular travel.

Purpose

Scale ZEISS Lens Care by delivering compelling commercial propositions that achieve both retailer financial objectives and consumer-centric goals. Core priorities include:

  • Growing business with 11 major grocery accounts and securing new distribution in 55+ target retailers.
  • Meeting revenue and profit targets through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement

    • Deeply understand and collaborate with 11 major UK grocery retailers, aligning proposals with their ambitions and financial needs.
    • Build trust and influence among retailers by leveraging commercial expertise and consumer insights.
  • Financial & Commercial Planning

    • Model spreadsheet-based financial plans and growth projections to demonstrate ROI for retailers and internal stakeholders.
    • Develop clear investment recommendations that maximise scalability and profit.

  • Strategic Account Management

    • Lead cross-functional teams (marketing, finance, supply chain, global lens care) to ensure on-time execution of activation plans.
    • Champion and refine the overall Lens Care business proposition to enhance competitiveness and align with ZEISS’s 2030 goals.
  • Campaign & Insight Generation

    • Work closely with marketing to design engaging campaign strategies (e.g., awards-industry campaigns like "ZEISS sweeps the board").
    • Attract and secure speaker opportunities at key retailer events.
  • Market Development

    • Identify and pursue new grocery accounts to expand ZEISS distribution.
    • Grow influence to secure distribution across high-growth regions.

Who You Are

  • Grocery Expertise: Minimum 2+ years experience developing relationships within 2+ UK grocery retailers.
  • New Business Track Record: Proven ability to win new accounts or distributions in either the grocery sector, FMCG, or consumer goods.
  • Commercial Acumen: Skilled in creating high-impact presentations, financial models, and compelling proposals.
  • Flexibility & Independence: Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel for internal and client meetings.
  • Culture Fit (ZEISS Commercial Commitments):
    • Focused on customer ambitions, insights, and value-creation.
    • Experimenter mindset—keen to test and apply successful strategies.
    • Continuous improvement mentality ("better by 1%").

Role Details

  • Location & Working Pattern: Office-based in Birmingham with occasional travel to UK retailers and stakeholder locations.

  • Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hrs/week) under the jurisdiction of the Associate Director, KAM Channel.

  • Salary Structure: Competitive market-winning salary with a performance-related bonus, aligned to experience and UK industry benchmarks (details on noteworthy request).

  • Must Also Have:

    • Legal right to work in the UK.
    • Valid UK driving licence.
