Account Manager
Account Manager – Public Sector
Kent (Hybrid: 1–2 days in regional office)
£38–48k Base + ~£40k OTE + Car / Allowance
Certus Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established technology business with a strong presence across SMBs and the Public Sector.
This is an account management role—not new business development. Think "hunt within the farm"—you’ll inherit a live customer base and focus on growing it.
The Role
You’ll manage ~100 existing accounts across the Public Sector (including councils, schools, and local organisations).
Core Responsibilities
- Find opportunities within accounts
- Open doors internally and grow revenue
- Manage and develop an existing account base
- Re-engage dormant and under-penetrated customers
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across a broad tech portfolio
- Book meetings and create opportunities within accounts
- Collaborate with specialists to support solution sales and close deals
- Retain ownership of account and revenue relationships
- Build pipeline and maintain clear account plans

This role involves department-level sales, not large procurements—focused on steady deal flow and consistent growth.
Account Manager Profile
We’re looking for someone with:
- Public sector account management experience (tech, services, or similar)
- Comfortable managing and growing existing accounts
- Strong commercial awareness (pricing, margins, deal value)
- Ability to identify opportunities and bring in specialists when needed
- Confidence in engaging multiple stakeholders
Public-sector sales experience is essential.
The Reality
Targets are achievable (~£800k, including renewals + upsells).
- You’re building on an existing revenue base—not starting from scratch.
- Success relies on consistency rather than large "hero" deals.
