Accountant – Part-Time
Location: Guildford, Surrey Type: 3 Days per Week (Office-Based) Salary: £60–70,000 + Discretionary Bonus + Pension
Working Hours: 9:00am–5:00pm | Flexible day selection
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Accountant to partner with a growing technology business, taking ownership of its finance function.
This is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity for a finance professional to oversee daily financial operations, deliver accurate reporting, and provide commercial insights to drive strategic decision-making.
The role ensures variety, blending transactional responsibilities (bookkeeping, payroll) with strategic management reporting, statutory compliance, and growth support.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts and detailed financial reports
- Develop cash flow forecasts and support budgeting activities
- Gather and analyse financial data to inform business decisions

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, P11D forms, and confirmation statements
- Ensure adherence to HMRC and regulatory requirements

Transactional Finance
- Manage bookkeeping, payroll, and pension administration
- Maintain accurate records for purchase and sales ledgers, reconciliations, and supplier payments
- Organise bank reconciliations and bank transaction analysis

Operational Efficiency
- Liaise with external auditors, advisers, and accountants
- Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and controls
- Administer and refine systems in Xero, the software backbone of the finance function
Requirements
- Experience: Previous role in accounting with a mix of transactional finance and management accounting
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong command of monthly management accounts, VAT returns, and confirmation statement submissions
- Confident in managing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and payroll speculation independently
- Proficient in Xero and/or similar accounting software
- Analytical & Commercial: Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Attention to Detail: Highly organised with a focus on precision and accuracy
- Culture Fit: Autonomy-seeking, collaborative, proactive, and proactive in problem-solving
