Location: Endeavour House, Ipswich, IP1 2BX (Hybrid) Salary: £34,434 per annum (pro rata for part-time) Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working options available) Contract: Permanent

About the Role
This is a vital opportunity to join our Financial Management Team, providing essential financial support to directorates so they can meet their financial responsibilities. You will advise and guide on key financial processes, including budget monitoring and forecasting.
Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Duties
You will:
- Support effective budget management by entering and analysing financial data, enabling informed decision-making and ensuring optimal resource utilisation.
- Explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues, empowering them to understand and manage their budgets.
- Establish strong financial controls by improving processes, identifying efficiencies, and promoting best practice across the council.
- Report on analysed financial data to senior managers and assist with statutory accounts preparation.
- Develop and maintain financial systems and processes to ensure accountability.
- Complete reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain data integrity across financial records, offering guidance on systems, reporting, and resolving queries.
This is a diverse, challenging, and impactful role where you will engage closely with budget holders and business support teams to optimise financial resources effectively for Suffolk’s populace—and flourish as a valued member of our supportive Finance team.
Requirements
- Qualification or Credentials:
- AAT qualification or progressing towards a CCAB qualification (e.g., CIPFA, CIMA, or ACCA), or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a finance-related environment.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Exceptional communication skills with a proactive mindset.
- Capacity to maintain accurate financial records, synthesise, reconcile data from multiple systems, and deliver translucent financial reporting.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT proficiency.
