Client Manager / Accountant
Location: North West England
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (flexible depending on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Overview
A growing independent accountancy practice in the North West is seeking a commercially minded Client Manager / Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while contributing to the continued growth and success of the firm.
The role offers strong progression prospects, exposure to a broad SME client base, and the opportunity to play a key role in client relationships and advisory work.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed business, and limited company clients across a range of sectors
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102/105)
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance and mentorship
- Preparing and/or reviewing management accounts and providing actionable insights to clients
- Overseeing VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and general compliance work
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships
- Providing commercial advice to clients, supporting business growth and decision-making
- Assisting with workflow management, deadlines, and overall portfolio performance

Requirements
- Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong accounts preparation and review experience
- Confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality service
- Good commercial awareness and ability to provide value-added advice
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (desirable)
- Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar

Qualifications
- AAT, ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified or qualified by experience
