About the Role We are a fast-growing, forward-thinking accountancy practice seeking a highly capable and commercially aware Accounts Manager to join our team. This is a pivotal, client-facing role responsible for managing a large and diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services, and supporting the continued growth of the firm. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, highly organised, and confident managing multiple priorities, with the ability to take ownership, lead a team, and build strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities Client Portfolio Management: Manage a substantial portfolio of SME clients across a range of sectors Act as the primary point of contact, building trusted long-term relationships Ensure delivery of a high standard of service across all client engagements
Accounts & Compliance
Prepare and review Year-end statutory accounts Corporation tax returns VAT returns Management accounts and financial reporting packs Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within deadlines Oversee compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations

Advisory & Value-Add Services Provide proactive advice on tax planning, business performance, and financial strategy Support clients with cashflow, forecasting, and KPI analysis Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, including use of cloud accounting tools
Team Leadership & Development Review work prepared by junior team members Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support Assist in developing team capability and maintaining high performance standards
Practice & Operational Support Assist Directors with: Advisory projects Business planning assignments Complex client matters Contribute to improving internal processes and workflow efficiencies Support the firm’s growth by identifying opportunities within the client base

Skills & Experience ACA / ACCA qualified Minimum 4-5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice Strong technical knowledge of; UK GAAP / FRS 102 Corporation tax VAT Proven experience managing a large client portfolio independently Experience in reviewing work and managing/mentoring a team Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively Proficient in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel
Personal Attributes Proactive and solutions- driven Confident dealing with clients at all levels Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Committed to delivering results and continuous improvement
