Pybus Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Accountant on behalf of a successful and well-established motor retail business in Dumfries. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to join a thriving dealership environment, providing financial leadership and supporting the continued growth of the business.
The Role
Reporting to senior management, you will take responsibility for delivering accurate financial information, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting operational performance across the dealership.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations and control account management
- Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Monitoring cash flow and working capital
- VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements
- Sales, stock, and profitability analysis
- Supporting departmental managers with financial reporting and decision-making
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Liaising with external auditors and professional advisors
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls

About You
We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused individual who has experience working within motor retail or a fast-paced commercial environment.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
- Strong management accounting and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business
- Strong commercial awareness

Desirable
- Previous experience within the motor retail or automotive sector
- Experience with dealer management systems (DMS)
- Understanding of vehicle stock accounting and manufacturer reporting
