Overview
Element has an opportunity for a new Accountant to join our growing team. These are fantastic opportunities to develop your Accountancy career within a growing, global TIC business.
Our new colleague will join us based from our beautiful new office in Edinburgh Park where we enjoy state-of-the-art facilities including collaboration spaces, huddle rooms, open-concept layout, and abundant natural light. With fantastic links by train, tram, commuter routes, as well as having designated parking, we are well connected for colleagues across the central belt of Scotland.
Responsibilities
- Month-end management accounts preparation
- Review and posting of accruals & prepayments
- Payroll, sales adjustments
- Review, challenge & posting of finance manager journals
- Upload of P&Ls, Working Capital and Aged Debtors information into One Stream (Grp reporting system) and ensuring reconciliation to GL
- Review month end reconciliations (incl Net Sales)
- Inter-company accounting for group companies
- Support the planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for European central functions
- Capital projects approval tracking and expenditure reporting
- Provide support to Finance Manager & Business Partner
- Support European VAT submission and statutory reporting as required
- Provide monthly reporting and analysis to Sector businesses and labs as required
- Provide KPI monitoring and reporting for the Reporting team
- Support of internal / external audit processes & ensure an effective control environment
- Ad hoc duties as and when required to support GBS finance applications and initiatives

Skills / Qualifications
- Degree or professional qualification in accounting beneficial
- Will consider candidates who are qualified by experience
- Experience of working in a similar position
- Good systems and accounting experience essential
- D365 & One Stream experience desirable (although training will be provided)
- Teamwork and effective communication within a team
- Ability to challenge and question accounting treatments
- Self-starter, works own initiative and proactive
- Self-confident in their own ability and in their accounting knowledge
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy in VAT and GL transactions
- Attention to detail especially regarding VAT and GL transactions
- Positive, can-do attitude
