Job Opportunity – Accountant

About the Company

We are Activequity, a specialist firm investing in and supporting businesses within the global premium wine trade. Led by experienced veterans of the consumer sector, we connect investors, industry professionals, and producers to broaden the accessibility of premium wine.

Note: While industry knowledge is beneficial, proof of passion is welcomed rather than required for this role.


The Role: Accountant

Joining our small yet ambitious headquarters team in Oxford, you will play a pivotal role in the financial stewardship of multiple investment companies. This well-established but evolving position suits a seasoned accountant or accounting manager with 15+ years of experience, seeking a long-term commitment with an environment that fosters work-life balance.

Responsibilities & Expectations

You will manage bookkeeping, corporate services, and critical administrative functions, including:

  • Maintenance of accounts, preparation of management accounts, tax returns, and corporate filings
  • Processing sales, invoices, payroll, and expense reporting
  • Overseeing assets and financial records for multiple client entities
  • Data entry and board meeting documentation
  • Collaborating with our external auditors to ensure statutory compliance
  • Adhering to professional confidentiality and commercial discretion in sensitive matters

Key Details

  • Location: Office in central Oxford, near the train station
  • Working Pattern: Preferable full-time, but part-time (4 days/week) or flexible scheduling may be negotiated

Essential Requirements

✔ Proven experience in UK company bookkeeping ✔ In-depth understanding of:

  • Corporation tax
  • Pay As You Earn (PAYE)
  • Value-Added Tax (VAT) ✔ Highly organised, with unfailing attention to detail ✔ Impeccable daily integrity and discretion ✔ Ability to commence employment from May 2026

**Preferred (Not Mandatory)

✅ ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent ✅ Experience with Xero accounting software ✅ Familiarity with legal document handling ✅ Prior exposure to fund/asset management or finance sector (helpful but not required)
