About the role:
I run an accountancy practice and I'm looking for an accountant to work with me on a part-time, self-employed basis. It's a fully remote role, paid by the hour to start with. The workload will be light at first and should grow as the practice takes on more clients, so the hours can increase over time. It would suit someone who wants flexible, remote work they can fit around other commitments and who's happy to take on more as things build.
Key details
- Location: Fully remote. Work from anywhere in the UK.
- Engagement: Self-employed. You invoice for your time and look after your own tax, National Insurance and insurances.
- Hours: Part-time and flexible to start, with hours likely to increase as the practice grows.
- Pay: Hourly rate, agreed based on your experience and qualifications.
- Term: Ongoing, with the potential to become a larger and more regular arrangement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
