Can you help us prove that technology shouldn't be disposable?

The tech industry generates millions of tons of e-waste every year. Entire fleets of corporate infrastructure are discarded, not because they are useless, but because the global supply chain has treated hardware as entirely disposable.

XUM Enterprise is changing that. We started with a simple idea: technology should have a second life. From our 35,000 sq ft Manchester facility, we test, renew, and manufacture UK-made DRAM memory modules and SSDs, growing into a trusted partner for global distributors, VARs, and system integrators. With a strict zero-landfill commitment and an international footprint stretching across the UK, Dubai, and China, we move thousands of units every single month. To fuel our next phase of aggressive growth, we need a heavyweight financial builder to take absolute ownership of our core asset: Stock.

This Is Not Just Another Finance Role

Let’s be upfront.

This role is not for someone who wants to hide behind generic spreadsheets or manage steady, incremental improvements in an established system.

At XUM, we don’t believe in bloated finance teams. We’d rather hire one exceptional Accountant who completely owns the numbers, inventory layers, and multi-market margins than three average ones who need micromanaging. You will step into a highly successful, hyper-growth business where the physical operation moves incredibly fast, but parts of the accounting operating model still need to be designed from the ground up. In practice, that means you won’t just maintain processes; you’ll challenge them, rebuild them, and create the operating cadence the company grows into. This is about precision, high agency, and impact.

What Makes You a XUM Accountant?

We look for individuals who naturally embody our core expected behaviours (DOCTOR)

  • D – DISCIPLINE: We stick to the job at hand and we get it done. We stay focused, work with diligence and consistency, and deliver to agreed standards. You bring this relentless focus to hardening our stock data and internal cycles.
  • O – ORGANISED: We’re structured in our thinking and approach. We plan effectively and we don’t waste time, effort, or resources. You’ll need this to parse complex inventory layers, multi-market margins, and payroll schedules without missing a beat.
  • C – COMMUNICATION: We communicate calmly, clearly and respectfully, sharing information to deliver insight at pace. You can create buy-in outside finance, bridging the gap between warehouse logistics, purchasing, and senior leadership.
  • T – TEAM FIRST: The group comes before any individual. We work as one team, stepping up and supporting each other to achieve collective success. You are the financial backbone supporting our fast-moving commercial engines.
  • O – OWNERSHIP: We are accountable for our roles and responsibilities, for delivery, outcomes and following through. We do what we say we are going to do and what we’re expected to do. There is no hand-holding here. You own the numbers completely.
  • R – RESULTS: We measure what matters, we monitor it, and we have a bias towards action to deliver and improve it. You don’t wait for perfect inputs; you drive an agenda to fix leaky margins and improve stock turn.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Do

This is a senior individual contributor role focused on creating a scalable operational foundation in a business that has grown fast and now needs stronger process, rhythm, and control.

  • Bridge the Gap (Transactional to Reporting): You will actively connect our day-to-day transaction engine with high-level month-end reporting. By completely owning month-end tasks—such as full reconciliations of the purchase ledger—you will maintain ultimate oversight and control over all transactional inputs that went into the month.
  • Build the Finance Foundation: Design and establish the accounting processes, valuation methodologies, and stock controls XUM needs for its next phase of scale.
  • Redesign What Doesn’t Work: Assess existing stock systems and workflows, identify where they break down, and rebuild them rather than patching around weak foundations.
  • Own the Month-End Operating Cadence: Create an airtight month-end close rhythm across finance and the warehouse team, ensuring stronger deadlines, accountability, and clean information flow.
  • Support Payroll Administration: Lend your structural rigor to supporting our payroll administration, ensuring our internal team workflows run as precisely as our inventory systems.
  • Drive Head-Office Visibility: Use Xero as your central financial engine, while building live dashboards in Google Sheets that give leadership real-time visibility into stock turn, platform margins (Amazon, eBay, Back Market), and cash flow.

What You Bring

We are looking for someone who has seen what “good” looks like in a structured environment, but thrives in the fast-paced momentum of a growing business.

  • The Credentials: Part-qualified or active studier of CIMA or ACCA, or an experienced QBE (Qualified by Experience) candidate with a heavy background in high-volume ledger environments.
  • The Trajectory: You are someone currently trapped in a rigid, slow-moving finance team who is hungry for real ownership, faster pace, and a direct line of sight to operational impact.
  • Stock & Warehouse Experience: Proven experience managing inventory reconciliations, tracking allocations, and tracking valuations from a finance or head-office perspective. You know how to parse stock flows and love collaborating with warehouse teams to get clean data.
  • Grip on the Ledger: Strong experience managing the full month-end reconciliation process (including the purchase ledger). You naturally look at a final report and instantly connect it to the transactional data behind it.
  • System Mastery: You are a heavy user of Xero and possess advanced Google Sheets/Excel skills for building custom, live financial trackers.
  • Manufacturing Exposure (a plus): While this is primarily a stock and warehouse-focused role, any exposure to component tracking, assembly costing, or Bill of Materials (BOM) is an advantage.

The Practicalities

  • Location: Manchester HQ, 35,000 sq ft production and facility (In Person, with trust-based flexibility).
  • Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience.
  • Stage: Hyper-growth, highly profitable, global footprint (UK, UAE, China).
  • Culture: High ownership, non-hierarchical, fast-moving
