Accounting and Balance Control Accountant
Department: Finance
Location: United Kingdom Compensation: £38,000 - £45,000 / year
Description
Here at NCH, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated accountant to join our busy finance team. The role will be hybrid, with office days based at our European head office in Bilston on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
The ideal candidate will be a reliable, customer-focused business partner who excels at collaborating with both the wider finance team and key departments across the organisation. We’re looking for someone who is results-driven and always focused on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
KPIs:
- Continuous accounting, accurate and on-time reporting
- Reduction of manual journals
- Timely completion of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Timely resolution of sub-ledger and “sets of books” issues
Accounting
- Review and posting of P&L transactions, accruals and prepayments
- AR includes discounts, rebates, bad debt provision, deferred revenue
- AP includes accruals, GRNI, Open POs
- Preparation of timely Balance Sheet reconciliations for all relevant account codes in US and Local GAAP
- Assist Compliance team in providing accurate and timely information to support external audits and statutory filings
- Apply NCH Group accounting policy and ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Create and maintain reference manual of differences between US and Local GAAP accounting treatment
- Support ad-hoc requests

Month-end
- Continuous accounting to avoid bottlenecks during month-end close
- Issue month-end reports for FP&A review
- Support month-end pushing of countries to ECL/CC and Group Consolidation
- Perform accurate and efficient sub-ledger revaluations
Team-working and stakeholder satisfaction
- Collaborate internally and cross-functionally to resolve issues and establish efficient, standardised processes
- Work effectively and cost-efficiently with network of external advisors
- Work with external audit and tax teams as directed by the NCH Compliance team
- Actively seek stakeholder feedback and act upon issues
- Deliver KPI’s on a timely basis

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Good accounting technician capable of developing deep subject matter expertise
- Operates effectively in a deadline-oriented environment and manage multiple activities
- Discreet and trust-worthy, working with confidential data
- 1-3 years of Financial Accounting experience
- Strong systems skills in Excel and Oracle / SAP
- Worked in multinational operations
- Experience in using / accounting sub-ledgers
- Fluency in written and spoken English, critical
- Other European language skills (written and spoken), desirable but not essential
