About the Role
Our Finance Function Support solution in Reading specialises in guiding corporate clients through profit-driven Accounting and Financial Reporting. This opportunity is for an Assistant Manager who will escalate from supporting complex financial reporting and consolidations to managing their own portfolio of clients.
As part of our Consulting division, your work will bridge six key areas—business transformation, deal services, finance transformation, risk and governance, forensic and investigation services, and restructuring—enabling clients to achieve their strategic goals and positioning you for rapid career progression.
What You’ll Do
- Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for corporate clients, upholding the firm’s standards for excellent service.

Portfolio Management: Oversee a small client base within budgetary constraints, ensuring:
- Material issues are addressed with the team proactively.
- Assignments stay aligned with internal controls and client instructions.

Project Execution:
- Plan assignments in line with RSM’s SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Confirm client agreements, including costing and billing.
- Execute complex reporting tasks (UK GAAP, IFRS, group consolidations) efficiently and within quality standards.

Business Development: Over time, progress from hands-on technical work to a management focus, scaling responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Your profile must include:
- Qualification status:
- ACA or ACCA (qualified or in progress).
- Technical expertise:
- Deep knowledge of UK financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
- Experience with group accounting and consolidation workbooks.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software (SAP, Hyperion, or similar).
- A working understanding of UK corporation tax (additional asset).
- Operational hands-on experience: Prior finance function/department exposure preferred.
