An established and highly respected specialist insurer is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its London finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with insurance sector expertise to take ownership of underwriting results reporting, month-end accounting and financial controls, while leading a small team in a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate underwriting and financial reporting across a complex insurance portfolio. You will be responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, driving process improvements and partnering with a range of stakeholders across finance, actuarial, reinsurance and regulatory functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production of monthly, quarterly and annual underwriting results reporting, including premiums, claims, reserves and acquisition costs.
- Manage and enhance the end-to-end month-end accounting process.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead, coach and develop a small team of finance professionals.
- Partner with FP&A, actuarial, reinsurance, regulatory reporting and external audit teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and reporting.

What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong insurance accounting experience gained within the Lloyd's and/or company market.
- Previous team leadership or management experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with tools such as Alteryx, SQL or finance systems would be advantageous.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
