Accounting Technician - CMB2502e

Salary: £34,434 - £35,412 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Hybrid (Carlisle base, occasional office attendance)

Contract: Permanent

About This Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Accounting Technician to join our Finance Unit and support the effective financial management of the Council.

This role contributes to budget setting, ongoing budget monitoring, and year‑end processes, providing accurate financial information to support informed decision‑making across services. You will work closely with budget holders, promote effective use of financial systems, and provide flexible support across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities Include

Supporting budget setting, monitoring, and closure of accounts. Maintaining the general ledger, including processing journals and virements in line with Financial Regulations. Producing financial reports and analysis for finance managers, budget managers, and Members. Supporting and improving the use of financial systems, including delivering training to users. Providing flexible financial support to services across the Council as required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to play a key role in a collaborative public sector finance team.
